Step 8: Helicopter Landing Platform Assembly

First begin assembling the platform by measuring, cutting, and gluing the support rods. The kit includes a cutting template for each of the support rods.

Glue the rods in place with super glue and test the angle and position as you go by placing the deck on top of the rods, then removing it to continue placing rods.

The rods are angled at different positions and I like to work from the rear to the front, doing both sides at once.

Next assemble two ladders using these parts.

One is placed port.

The other is positioned starboard on the rear of the landing deck.

Next use the kit supplied template to measure, bend and cut the copper wire hand rails for each ladder.

Glue the hand rails as shown on both the port and starboard ladder

The larger hand rail goes on the inside as shown here.

Next assemble the parts for the landing deck.

The ladder, which was used to access the landing platform from inside the well deck can be stowed as shown or glued in the lowered position.

There are also two-split litter hatches on the forward edge of the deck. These can be either glued open or shut.
