Patrol Craft Fast (PCF) "Swift Boat"
"Market Time Patrol Craft"

1/35 Scale Swift Boat: This "Swiftie" was scratch built by using layers of styrofoam covered by artist stock paper for the hull. The superstructure and pilot house were made using sheet styrene, strip, and rod. The twin .50-cal gun tub was made using an old 35-mm film canister, leaving the top on and cutting a hole in the middle. Old glory is a decorative tooth pick flag that was sandwiched over a piece of lead foil. This allows the flag to be bent to any desired shape to give that wind blown look. The tire bumpers are from an old HO scale truck. The Swift was mounted on a piece of plywood covered with papier-mâché and waves formed with the tip of a tea spoon, engine froth and wake was made with spackle. The entire base was given a heavy coat of gloss varnish to replicate water.
